As a Tenor, Alex has worked in a variety of genres on many shows. In recent years he has been more involved in Opera, most recently performing in the contemporary chamber opera “Boys Of Paradise” by Vahan Salorian as part of the Tete-a-Tete Opera Festival in EGG London, which was praised for its “Thrilling, sexy singing”. Other Opera roles include Alcindoro (cover) in Puccini’s La Boheme (Frogmore Paper Mill, 2016, cond. Audrey Hyland), Solo Baritone in Maricio Kagel’s Staatstheatre (Milton Court 2015, dir. Loré Lixenberg). Alex has a keen interest in contemporary repertoire, recently premiering Geoffrey King’s “3 Whitman Songs” in 2017, and performing the music of Richard Rodney Bennett in-recital at St-Mary-at-Hill, and was also a choral scholar at St. Luke’s Church, Chelsea in 2017/18. Alex has also worked in Musical Theatre and Jazz, including productions of Songs for A New World (Silk Street Theatre ,2014) and Sweeney Todd (also as assistant MD, Frogmore Paper Mill, 2016), as well as singing for big bands and ensembles including a post as resident singer for the GSMD Pops Orchestra and was also head of the GSMD Musical Theatre Society for 2 years. Alex graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with first-class honours in composition with Paul Whitmarsh, winning both the Edmund Rubbra prize for best composition and the Rose Lawrence award for highest academic achievement, and was a second-study Tenor for 4 years with Ian Kennedy. He recently finished a Masters at the Royal Academy of Music with Gary Carpenter and Edmund Finnis and was Second Study Tenor with Raymond Connell.
